Taking Appropriate Measures

Good day all.

The public has recently been informed on the situation which celebrity Billie Eilish finds herself in.

Billie Eilish is an American musician and resident of Los Angeles. In recent years she has gained popularity and stardom through her music. Her most recent album, “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, finished the year with 2.5 million total album-equivalent units in 2019, 400,000 more units than any other album [1].

The love that the star receives from her fanbase definitely has its upside, however the story does not stop there. As reported by many outlets, including EOnline and The Guardian, the star has been granted a restraining order against an alleged stalker. The man accused of harassment is John Matthews Hearle.

The star finds herself and her family in a threatening situation due to her recent fame. EOnline reports, “According to Billie’s declaration, for the past six months Hearle has “harassed and threatened” the singer while parked at a school across from her family home.”[2] No one let alone a young 19-year-old, should ever have to feel threatened in their own home.

We as people cannot prevent stalkers and intruders from existing, but there are actions one can take.

In high-profile situations such as Billie Eilish’s case I definitely recommend an ecosystem of security. The ecosystem should consist of multiple layers of security measures on the home and the celebrity. As we have all already seen – the alleged stalker easily found the musicians primary residence. At this point the security measures around the artist and her home will be what stand between her and the threat.

The two main security measures I recommend here today will pertain to protecting an individual in their home. These are measures which can be used separately, but in the case of a high-profile individual I recommend both be used together. The two options are video surveillance and on-premise protective services.

Starting from the outside of the home, I recommend the celebrity has a video-security system. This system provides the target with the comfort of knowing what is happening on the premise whether she is or isn’t on the property. In this case, the artist can clearly identify who comes near her property and to track what time the intruder came near the property. Knowing when someone is on the property, opens up the option to call in local authorities within the moment and have the local law enforcement address the issue. This also helps the property owner name any areas that the intruder may have come in contact with. If any alarming items are placed on the property – this security system will help point-out areas of interest.

Once on the premise, as noted above, an intruder can exercise a variety of options that will place the target in danger. This is when the on-premise security detail comes into play. Having a person or a team on premise to monitor the activity and respond to threats identified by the video surveillance will prevent the intruder from causing damage. There is a time delay between when the intruder gains access to a property and when the local law enforcement arrives. Executive protection services will make sure that the intruder is kept at bay and reduce the threat level.

In the case of Billie Eilish, we at Cherub Executive Service are more than happy to hear that she remains safe at home with her family. We hope that the restraining order provides the artist with peace of mind and has removed all potential threats to her home. We hope the artist feels safe again and continues to release great music.
